Membership

If you would like to join Soldiers Beach Surf Club, we have a range of memberships available and would be delighted to welcome you to the club. Single Membership Prices

Family Membership Packages (must include at least one Nipper membership) are available.

Red and Green Caps (Nipper) Aged 5 to 6 years. Attends Nipper events.
Junior Activity Member (Nipper) Aged 7 to 13 years. Attends Nipper events.
Active (over 19) Shall be a Member as defined in the Association manuals and who has obtained the Bronze Medallion.
  • Active Members shall perform patrols and life saving duties in accordance with Club regulations and they shall qualify in Club annual proficiency test each season unless the Member has obtained the Bronze Medallion in that season.
  • Active Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities as approved by the Committee.
  • Shall have competition rights, subject to fulfilling patrol requirements.
Active (Junior) - 15-18 years Shall be a Member as defined in the Association manuals, over 15 years of age and under 19 years of age who has obtained the Bronze Medallion.
  • Junior Active Members shall qualify in the Club Annual Proficiency test each season unless the Member has obtained the Bronze Medallion in that season.
  • Junior Active Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities as approved by the committee.
  • Shall have competition rights, subject to fulfilling patrol requirements.
Cadet - U/15
  • Shall be a Member as defined in the Association manuals, under 15 years of age who has obtained the Surf Rescue Certificate.
    • Cadet Members shall qualify in the Club Annual Proficiency test each season unless the Member has obtained the Surf Rescue Certificate in that season.
    • Cadet Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities, as approved by the Committee.
    • Shall have competition rights, subject to fulfilling patrol requirements.
Active Reserve
    1. Active Reserve Membership may be granted to Active Member who have satisfactorily completed (from gaining of their Bronze Medallion) a minimum of ten (10) years of patrols and/or Club obligations.
    2. Granting of Active Reserve Membership shall be the resolution of the Committee and Member must apply in writing, one week prior to the Club A.G.M., on an annual basis.
    3. Active Reserve Members will be called up to perform 50% of patrols as performed by patrol number 1 or as directed by the Director of Life Saving, and they must qualify in the Club annual proficiency test.
    4. Shall have competition rights, subject to fulfilling patrol requirements.
Long Service
  • Long Service Membership may be granted to Members who have completed twelve (12) years of active service, or to Members who have completed ten (10) years of active service plus four (4) years active reserve service.
  • Granting of Long Service Membership shall be by the resolution of the Committee and Members must apply in writing one week prior to the Club A.G.M.
  • Long Service Members shall be exempt from all patrol obligations and they shall have all the privileges of an Active Member.
Award
    1. Shall be a Member as defined in the Association manuals and who has not obtained the Bronze Medallion but has obtained another Lifesaving award.
    2. Award members shall undertake patrol/lifesaving duties in accordance with the Lifesaving award held and as determined by the Club Captain.
    3. Award Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities as approved by the Committee.
    4. Award Members shall have no competition rights.
Probationary
    • Shall be a member joining the club awaiting the completion of an appropriate award for their age category for full membership.
    • Probationary Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities as approved by the Committee.
    • The award must be completed within twelve (12) months of joining the club, or an appropriate time frame determined by the committee.
    • Probationary Members shall have no competition rights.
Associate
    1. Associate Membership may be granted by the Committee to persons who may, or may not, be the holder of an Association award.
    2. Applicants for admission as Associate Members must be thirty-five (35) years of age or over, unless joining as a nipper parent.
    3. Associate Members shall be entitled to use the Club premises and facilities as approved by the Committee.
    4. Associate Members shall not be called on to perform Active Membership duties.
    5. Associate Members shall have no competition rights.
Life
    1. Life Membership may be awarded to members who have rendered distinguished service in accordance with the Club Constitution.
