Welcome to the season 2017/18 at Soldiers Beach Surf Life Saving Club. A note of congratulations and thank you to your newly elected committee;

A very big thank you to all of these members who have put up their hands to assist in the running of your club. Please note that there are still some vital positions that we need to fill to assist those volunteers. If you can help in any fashion please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the team.

A welcome back to all our Active Patrolling Members and a heads up for the new patrol roster which will be available shortly. It’s time to start getting wet again and requal dates will soon be advertised on Facebook and on the website. Just a note that these all need to be completed by Dec 31 for competition rights for our competitive members. This includes updating all of the details on Surfguard, so be aware that if you wish to compete it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to complete YOUR REQUALIFICATION with enough time to update YOUR DETAILS before this date. Note that this is not a test it is a review and update of your skills please do not put it off until the last minute.

For those interested in brushing up on a few skills or maybe doing a little maintenance on the beach body, keep an eye out for our inclusive beach program SOLDIERS SALTY SATURDAYS. This is a variation on our Sunday morning group which is aimed at all levels of skill and fitness to get together in a friendly, inclusive and non -competitive environment for some beach and water activities. Come along and see what being a “clubbie” is all about. It should be great fun and the coffee at the end will be worth it!!!. This starts on Sept 16 @ 8.30am. Bring your speedos, your joggers and a grin this will be great fun.

Be sure to check our Facebook page and this website for our rego days and membership packages and a welcome back to all of our Junior members and their Mums and Dads. Keep an eye out for our Nipper Induction process this season. This will give you all the information you need for a smooth season with your nippers and will bring everyone up to speed with the changes to the Nipper program for this year.

This season will see some changes to how things have been done in the past. The Committee has some very innovative ideas which will be implemented throughout the season, in an effort, to improve on what was a very successful season last year. Be sure to stay up to date with what is going on at your club on our website or on our Facebook page, Soldiers Beach Surf Club. These 2 interactive platforms will be the basis for up to date information on all things Soldiers Beach including training, carnival info, event info, times, dates, venues and anything else needed to make this season a success. If you have an enquiry let us know through the interactive Facebook page and don’t hesitate to ask around the club as every effort is made to keep your club informed.

Involvement is the key for a successful season and I encourage everyone to get involved and become a part of your club. Anything that you can help with will be appreciated and who knows it might even be fun!

This year Soldiers will play host to a number of events both at a local and a branch level. We will host a round of the Newcastle Permanent Ironman series, we have a Masters Carnival along with the Branch Champion lifesaver competition and the final of the Streets Surfboat Series. These are all spectacular events and Soldiers Beach competitors feature in all of these. Be sure to answer the call as these events approach as these events will only be successful with your support and assistance.

We are all excited about another great season of Surf Lifesaving here at Soldiers and look forward to seeing you all on the beach again this year.
